Once upon a time, Annie Galloway was a woman with boundless hopes-and big, glorious dreams. There were so many good days, when everything she wanted seemed just a heartbeat away-a career in art, a peaceful marriage, a house full of children. But there were dark times, too. And when her husband died young, her precious, cherished dreams died with him. Now, settling into a beachfront cottage in Shelter Rock Cove, Maine, Annie has finally found the strength to start over again. All she needs is courage, and time. The last thing she needs is a handsome, charming next-door neighbor… Sam Butler has fled the high-stakes drama of Wall Street for the quiet charm of Shelter Rock Cove. Like Annie, he’s no stranger to sorrow. But he’s ready to show her that life does go on-one day, one dream at a time…… (plus d'informations)

My review

Finally finding the home of your heart. Separately both Sam Butler and Annie Galloway find the place that will not be a constant reminder of their past failures, but also the place where two people who are not looking for new beginnings, find one, together. ( )

DESCRIPTION, NOT REVIEW: The first time they met, his dog trashed her car.

The second time they met, she set fire to her bathroom.

The third time they met, they fell in love.

Annie Galloway isn't looking to fall in love again. Sam Butler doesn't want a home and family of his own.

Too bad fate has other plans . . ( )

Bit too much tell instead of show but good story ( )

Another of the author's wonderful books set in Shelter Rock Cove, Maine. Annie Galloway is a young widow, and Sam a man with no apparent means of support and a cloudy history. As the town watches and interferes, life happens.

I love Bretton's way of capturing our hearts for her oh-so-real characters and pulling us into their lives. ( )

Free on Kindle. Could be spoilers. This was OK. The couple was perfect for each other, and the rich guy loved them both. She was a hero. He wasn't so much. But they both protected their families.

"No good." Warren Bancroft pushed the sheaf of papers back across his desk. "The price is too high." His attorney, a pig-headed Yankee named Stoney, allowed himself to register his shock. "Too high?" He glanced down at the number Warren had written across the top of the appraisal. "That's absurd! It isn't high enough.
