For some reason when I bought this book I was expecting something altogether different. In fact, this is a pure chrestomathy, with a selection of readings followed by a sign list and specialized glossary. There are no notes, keys, footnotes, or any other pedagogical apparatus. Most -- though not all -- texts are a cuneiform holograph followed by a transcription. Some omit the transcription altogether, while some add a normalized neo-assyrian cuneiform version of the orginal.
