As the book opens, an attack is taking place on the high seas, and it was very easy to imagine that it's the opening sequence of the actual TV series, and that feeling continues as the team mobilizes and makes its way to the island, where things start to not go according to plan.
Unfortunately, from this point on in the book, I start to get very confused, and it seems that the team is actually spending many, many days on the island. It seems that the team will wake up, travel a little bit, and then make camp for the night again. And this seems to continue for a good portion of the book--very little actually happening and then camping for the night. While there were some very interesting concepts presented in the book, I think they were very poorly hashed out in the book, and the story was overall very poorly written.
And considering the ending, or the lack of an ending, also helped to hurt the book. I hope the next book in the series, which I will be ordering very shortly, is more like the first book and less like this one. ( )
