A just ask book, is one book in a series of fiction story books written by Chris Arvetis and Carole Palmer and illustrated by James Buckley that explore many wonders of the earth from volcanoes to thunder and lightning. The narrator, Christopher Raccoon, takes the reader through the causes of lightning and how it is created by using an experiment with magnets. HE tells the reader how the lightning is created by electricity and talks a little about the positive and negative aspects of magnets and how they attract and repel. He then explains that electricity has to deal with positive and negatives, and how the positive and negatives create the lightning when they come into contact with each other. He tells that clouds act in the same manner when a positive cloud meets a negative cloud a spark can ignite and cause a flash of lightning. Christopher Raccoon goes on to describe the cause of thunder to the reader. The states that the lightning is made up of molecules and the spark the created the lightning causes these molecules to heat up and start jumping. The jumping molecules bump into cool molecules in the air and cause a wave. This wave is the sound of the thunder, then Christopher Raccoon explains that the thunder is just a bunch of harmless molecules and it is nothing to fear. The book concludes by reviewing the causes of thunder and lightning. This book is an excellent reference for educator of young children because it gives the scientific explanation of the cause of thunder and lightning and can be used to accompany a lesson on positive and negative ions and electricity. It has accurate information and is a great aid to a discussion on the science lessons of weather and electricity. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
