For teenager Darcy Wills, the summer break she had longed for arrives with heartbreak, confusion, and a series of events that will forever change who she is—both in her own eyes as well as those of her family. With suggestive parallels that can be drawn to experiences typical of urban middle and high school settings, adolescents from all walks of life will be immersed in Darcy’s rollercoaster of emotions. From losing her boyfriend to gravely disappointing her parents, the plights of this protagonist are easily relatable to teens across a wide spectrum of social backgrounds. The 144 pages of comparatively large font (for a novel) are broken into 10 manageable chapters that “hook” the reader on the first page and taunt cliffhangers on the last. Descriptive language is embedded within large tracks of dialog, which provides transparency of imagery and emotion. Owing to its appealing content and simple language and format, this hi-lo novel from the renowned Bluford series provides an avenue for engaging struggling or resistant teen readers. The novel, Untill We Meet Again, encompasses a teenage girl named Darcy whos boyfriend, Hakeeem, moves to another state. In the beginning, Darcy, the protagonist struggles with getting over the fact that her and Hakeem will never see eachother again after he moves at the end of the school year. Through out the middle, she gets a babysiting job that introduces her to Brian, a smooth-talking and suducing guy who happens to be one year older than her. Brian whoos Darcy and makes her feel guilty about bouncing back from Hakeem so fast. One night Brian takes things too far and her family puts her to shame. By the end Darcy learns from her mistakes and her life shapes up for the better whith a little help from two special people. ( 144 pgs/ 144 pgs read) This is a perfect series for more mature readers that are still working on their comprehension. I thought the plot was engaging and the characters were believable. I also love the fact that the characters are from different backgrounds and socio-ecomonic levels without being stereotypical. I started with number seven in the series because it was available. I enjoyed it so much that I am going back to number one and planning on reading the whole series. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
