A sweet little story about a dog adjusting to life with a new baby in the family. ( )

I liked the book True Love because it has a main idea of love. It is important for kids to read about love and its importance. The book shows all the different meanings of love such as "love gives you strength." I found the book to be cute and I loved the illustrations because they made the book funny. This book will make kids think about how others view love and why it is important while also getting a laugh. This book is relatable to kids even though it is about a dog. It will show kids that even though they might have a sibling they are not being replaced and their family will always love them. ( )

I like the book "True Love" because of the plot and strong concepts that it presents to the readers. It pushes the readers to think about a common situation in an unique perspective of a dog. The book is extremely relatable because many families have dogs before having children, however, it was interesting to hear the emotions from a dog's point of view. It can also relate to children who are expecting a new sibling. Many children get nervous that there parents will "forget about them" or feel less important. In the book the dog nervously thinks, "Now that they have a new baby, will there be enough love for the both of us?" It pushes the readers to sympathize for an animal. The central message of this book was being love and displaying love for others. ( )

Babette Cole has such a wonderful, lighthearted way of dealing with issues that children face. Truelove's feelings and actions as he seeks love and attention from his family is a true reflection of what children go through, especially when there is a new person in the family. An emphasis on forgiveness at the end of the story is a nice way to emphasize unconditional love. ( )
