Surprisingly funny. ?áSome might find it irreverent, but since the 'Creation Tales' are purely from the author's imagination, I advise readers to simply enjoy. Though not poems, the stories benefit from the fact that the author is a poet and is skilled at the craft of using language. ?áNot florid or purple, just wonderful. ?áUnlike other creation tales, these are not told in the solemn tone that we often see in the kind of 'multi-cultural educational' collections aimed at schoolchildren. ?áAnd Davidson's B&W art is absolutely wonderful. ?áI would absolutely love to read this aloud to, say, a class of 10 year-olds.

I loved the movie The Iron Giant and am continuing to look hard for more books by Hughes - children's, adults', poems... no matter. ( )
