Re-release of 2008 novel When young boys go missing, psychic Kevin Quinn is called in to help the police department. Quinn's partner is Connor Dougal, a newer detective on the force, and a skeptic when it comes to psychic abilities -- that is until strange things happen to Kevin when he touches objects belonging to the missing kids. Even more disturbing is the way Kevin can participate in Conner's dreams. Conner's past is more tied to the current case than anyone realizes and it's only by lancing the pain of the past there is a hope for the future.… (plus d'informations)

I absolutely loved this book! Terrific flawed characters in one of my favorite tropes. It didn't matter one bit that figuring out who the killer was early on because Kevin and Connor kept me totally in the story. The family dramas were handled beautifully. Highly recommended! Now back to the Dodgers beating the Giants. ( )

I really enjoyed this book, it is a solid 4.5 for me. Is it perfect? No, there are some problems with the story, the killer is immediately recognizable, the MCs fall for each other fast, and pretty much ignore a huge glaring clue, but Connor and Kevin are engaging and likable, their dialogue and interactions are witty and fun, the story is never dull, it doesn't get bogged down - no skimming pages here. This book truly disappointed me. To be honest, after the first third of it, the only thing that kept me reading was the mystery, and that went away as soon as the culprit step into the scene, as it was pretty obvious that he was the killer ~sigh~

I never really got into the pairing. I like enemy-to-lovers, but here it was...ugh! They went from snippy and annoyed with each other to corny and starry-eyed in a second. None of the secondary characters were really consistent, everybody was oh, so nice! by the end that you can't help but wonder how they didn't get whiplash.

The mystery was simply the excuse for the romance and that wasn't what I was expecting. But I could have dealt with that if the romance hadn't been so... sirup-y. And the dialogues! I know they were meant to be funny, but I kept hearing 11 years old boys trying to outdo each other.

Oh, well, just not for me, I guess. ( )

I really enjoyed this one!! This is a very well written book with excellent characters. This is a story of high school sweethearts tragically torn apart and reunited almost 8 years later. Definitely one to put on the must read list. ( )

The Long Way Home by ZA Maxfield is a re-release of one of the most popular gay romances of 2008. If, like me, you missed reading it the first time around, you have a second chance now. The book alternates two third-person viewpoints and features the author’s usual strong points: flawless writing, a glamorous southern California setting, and hot sex scenes.

The paranormal aspect of the story is wisely kept to a minimum. The psychic main character can touch objects and pick up visions of the missing people to whom they belonged. This causes him to suffer overwhelming vertigo and nausea, which keeps his experience grounded in physical reality. The mystery itself is easy to figure out, but overall the book is a pleasant romantic read.

The story begins with Kevin, a former cop who developed psychic powers after a traumatic injury. His brother-in-law, as a cop, lures his back to California to work on a case involving young boys who have gone missing. Kevin is to assist Connor, a skeptical younger detective, Now, as the missing person case turns into a serial killer situation, Kevin realizes that he must protect Connor from evil in Connor’s past, which links Connor to the case.
