Oliver became an orphan because his mother died during childbirth and he never knew his father. Oliver Twist tells the story of how orphans were treated poorly in London during the 19th century. Oliver is shot and wounded when a robbery goes bad. This book is a great classic, but age should be taken into consideration when reading or assigning to a classroom. Oliver twist is a great book about a orphan that is taken by an undertaker then runs away to the city of england then is taken in by a man named fagin who steals peoples stuff then resales them so oliver stole somthing and got caught and Mr.Brownlow takes him in and then MR. and Mrs.bumble come and give Mr.Brownlow a locket that olivers mother left him and so Mr.Brownlow opens it and soon discovers that oliver is his son. I very much reccomend this book to everyone. "Please, sir, may I have summore?" This book is one of my all time favorites. A classic, Dickens paints a portrait of the struggles of a poor orphan in turn-of-the-century London. Yes, Fagan "the Jew" is a pretty racist character, but he also has motive for being a jerkface. Like all of the characters, he is just caught up in a hard life, trying to survive. Nancy, the sex worker with a heart of gold, is the best character in this book. Prostitutes were seen as trash, but Dickens shows that even "fallen women" have values. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
