From the Garden: A Counting Book About Growing Food helps the reader learn about the numbers 1 to 12. The family pulls up fruits and vegetable to create a yummy salad from the garden. I think this book is a great tool to use for younger children learning to count. The fruits and vegetables dance across the page and pull the reader in. I found myself becoming curious about what the family was going to make with all the fresh produce. I believe students will relate to this story because many of them have gardens at home. This can inspire them to count their own amount of veggies in the backyard. I would use this book with my kindergarten class and have them create their own garden. ( ) This math book is great for a child that can relate to it. The Pictures are great description of what is happening in the words. I think this would make a great addition to the a classroom library for young students to use for counting but also to gain a good vocabulary. There is some information in the back - glossary, information from the web, and pages that you can find the vegetables. This one is counting book that also teaches gardening and about different types a vegetables and fruits. I love the little facts at the end that tell you history facts about the various veggies and fruits shown in the book. The other fun thing is that the author included hidden numbers on each page, so it gives kids a reason to go back and read it again. The author, as well, encourages kids to go outside and count anything they want because counting is fun. This book was cute, but very simple, so it would hold the attention of the younger kids. Also, the family shown is Asian and I do applaud that there is diversity in the book. I love this counting book. It was interactive meaning the child can read the text and then count each page and see the number located on the side. My favorite part of the book was that on each page there was a hidden number that corresponded to the page. I had a blast trying to find each number hidden on the page. I think children will enjoy counting and looking for the numbers. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
