Wodehouse in this volume, a series of short stories, and very brief excerpts arranged alphabetically. I laughed out loud at "The Crime Wave at Blandings Castle" and enjoyed the droll descriptions in the brief "plums". I suspect it would become too much if I sat down with a novel by Wodehouse, but the brief stories were perfect ( ) A great intro to Wodehouse, with bits from his "Wooster and Jeeves" works, "Blandings", and others. This Folio Society special collection includes short stories as well as 'plums', short bits and pieces from numerous Wodehouse works. Paul Cox's illustrations of this Folio Society edition are perfect for Wodehouse (though I wish they were in color). All in all, a highly recommended book to read cover to cover or to dip into when you have a few minutes. Os. A great introduction to Wodehouse's stories, this is a collection of nine tales of some of his more famous (Jeeves and Wooster) and lesser known charcaters. As always they are all laugh out loud (be careful when reading this book in a public place, people are apt to start at you for silently chuckling to yourself ...), and the stories have been well picked. Some of the stand out stories for me were definitely 'The Great Sermon Handicap' with Jeeves and Wooster (I also have this story on a BBC audio book and, though I have listened / read it countless times I still did not skip through or skim over it) and the first story, the excerpt from 'Young Men in Spats' which I had not read before but have now bought. And the story taken from 'Heart of a Goof' a beautiful book full of short stories centering around the theme of golf and the golfers constant striving for that one perfect round ... (I'm still waiting!) The only problem I had with this book, and it's a double edged criticism, is that the stories are so good I want to read the rest of the book they were taken from. I would recommend to this to anyone as a good introduction to Wodehouse but I'm a convert and want the whole book, not just a taste no matter how delicious it is. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
