Everyone's in love with vampires, and if his name happens to be Edward Cullen, then readers of the wildly popular Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer can't help but be crazy about him. For all those who adore Bella Swan, Edward, and the rest of the Cullen family and can't get enough, this companion guide is a must-read and a terrific gift. The series follows an unlikely couple: Bella, a teenager, and her boyfriend Edward, a vampire that has sworn off human blood. But their love is ill-fated--being a vampire, Edward must keep his passion in check, lest he is driven to suck Bella's blood. With legends, lore, and myths about everything from vampires to werewolves to immortality, a bio of the author, and a ton of insight into the four-book series, this companion guide will give millions of readers the information that they've been waiting for since book one.… (plus d'informations)

Aw, who am I kidding? I don't care that much about Twilight. ( )

.5 stars, round to 1 star (This is a generous 1 star on my part.)

The Twilight Companion: The Unauthorized Guide to the Series is, as the author claims, written from one Twilight fan to other Twilight fans. Sadly, the writing itself along with the overall tone is immature and the entire book borders on being pure drivel.

I was turned off from the opening pages of the book, which gushed almost more so than Stephenie Meyer did in her Twlight books, about how sexy and wonderful Edward was, to the point of claiming that Edward is "the perfect man". (Oh and there's the part about why Edward should be on People's Top 10 Sexiest Men list, or at least Robert Pattison should be.) Not only did the opening pages gush over Edward, but they laid claim to the fact that anyone reading this text and the Twilight books would want to be Bella Swan because she's so wonderful too--intelligent, caring, loyal, blindly devoted to her man.

I came close to throwing the book across the room within the first two pages, which I think might have been a record for how quickly a book has annoyed me. But I soldiered through the rest of the book. The writing didn't get any better, so I really shouldn't have wasted my time.

The best thing about the book? It covered these two things (twilight saga, twilight series) for TITTM.

If you want to read an intelligent companion book to the series filled with essays that are largely a critical analysis of different aspects of the Twilight series, read New Dawn. ( )

This book is mistitled, it shouldn't be called a Twilight Guide, it should be called "How To Date Edward Cullen". I was looking for a book that would cover some of the themes in Twilight, what I got was a book that gushed about how romantic Edward is. This book doesn't cover facts about the series, it mostly covers the author's opinions (for example, at one point the book claims the guy who plays Edward is more attractive than the guy who plays Jacob and the guy who plays Harry Potter...handsomeness is in the eye of the beholder!).

If this book was titled "A Guide to Edward Cullen" then the content would be fine, for Edward obsessed fans. It should not be marketed as a overall series guide.

With that said, it does have some interesting vampire lore titbits mixed in that I liked. But for someone who is interested in this vampire series as a whole, and not just for a certain character, it was disappointing. ( )

Not what I expected which was an essay-style guide to Twilight. This was aimed at teenage girls only. I truly thought I would get some more in depth discussion of the series and its effect on teenagers and adults alike. ( )
