I did not enjoy this book much. While this book is super informative it is kind of a bore. I do think this book would be good for a research project though. The simple language makes this book good for younger audiences, but I do not think the writing style would keep them interested throughout the book. ( )

Martin Luther King Jr was a great man that only wanted to lead peaceful protests for the rights of African Americans. I did not know this fact, but Mr. King, looked up to Gandhi. He was known for fighting without his fists or guns. Martin Luther King wanted to fight with words, not weapons. However, those wishes fell short. One day while he was at a meeting, someone bombed his house. The United States Supreme Court ruled that Jim Crow laws were unconstitutional, but Martin knew that trouble was still ahead. One day, while Martin Luther King stood out on his hotel balcony, James Earl Ray fired his gun killing him. Martin Luther King wanted the world to change for the better. In a ideal world, everyone would be treated equally. ( )

The book tells in a chronological order about the life of famous Martin Luther King Jr. It gives us an insight about the childhood of the man an lets us understand how it became that he fought hardly on the improvement for African-Americans in the United States. I was really shocked by the book, because as he was assassinated, it had already been the third time he or his family had been attacked, because of his involvement in the Civil Rights Movement. On the one hand, it is amazing that their are so many people that had fought a lot and still fight. Otherwise, African- Americans would not have any rights at present age. But I feel sorry for this family, they always were in danger and had to be scared. ( )

Martin Luther King, Jr.'s life and accomplishments are portrayed.

The book would be useful by itself and along with other books about Martin Luther King, Jr., the Civil Rights Movement, and other key individuals of his time. ( )

MLK enjoyed playing base ball with the neighbor hood boys paying no mind to the fact they were white. One day when they were there he went to their house and their mother told him they would never play with him again because the was black so he set out to learn to be twice as smart and Christian to make it in the “white man’s world”
With pictures on every page, it invites the young reader to learn something without looking through a text book.
