For longer than she can remember, Veronica has been wolf. Dreams give her a name and the image of a brother. Memory gives her nothing and no one. Book Two of the Strength series. I really enjoyed this novella about a werewolf girl who lives as a wolf and has amnesia so bad that she can barely remember one day to the next until she meets the hero when he rescues her from a wolf trap. This is a really different take on the whole werewolf thing. She is very vulnerable and struggles to fit back into the human world in order to be with him. Just as good the second time around. ( )

This book is the second in the Strength series, and part of a larger series involving both m/f and m/m romances. I was worried because I hadn't enjoyed Strength of the Pack , the very first book all that much, but this book was much more emotional depth. I really liked Veronica and found her predicament poignant and also original, this is not a werewolf tale I've read before (that in itself is remarkable!) I was really interested in what was going on and wanted to see how it would all work out. Veronica is such a clear and interesting personality, that David was slightly less so, just because he was more conventional. But he was kind when kindness was needed and willing to accept what many would find unacceptable and he became a hero for that, rather than just being presented as a fully fledged romance hero. This is part of a series, we meet characters we've met before and we'll meet some of these characters again. I'm enjoying this series a lot (some more than others, this is one of the better ones) and this rates as a keeper for me. ( )

"The Strength of the Wolf" is Jorrie Spencer's second book in her 'Strength' series. While the first book teetered on the cusp of erotica, this one I would characterize as more on the paranormal romance side. The sex is not a main piece of the plot; thus my calling more romance vs erotica.

This book tells the story of Veronica, the missing sister of the hero from the first book, "The Strength of the Pack". Veronica has amnesia and has been in her wolf form for so long she can hardly remember anything else. Then she becomes caught in an animal trap and is rescued by David. It's his smell that first calms her and then draws her to him and causes her to want to meet him in her human form. As for David, he cares for the wolf he saved with the big brown eyes, but knows that lessening a wild animal's fear of humans may get the wolf killed. Then he meets a strange abandoned woman called Veronica and is drawn to her in spite of himself. He's not sure that he can trust a stranger, especially with his nephews troubles surrounding a computer hacking/embezzlement story. But the more time he spends with Veronica, the more he feels the need to protect her too.

A much more emotional story than the first book. I liked it for different reasons than those for the first book, but will definitely look for the next book in this series by Jorrie Spencer. ( )
