I really liked reading the book, Here Comes the Strikeout. The first reason I liked reading this book was because of the plot. The story had a good climax because I was not sure whether or not Bobby was going to ever hit the baseball. There was a lot of suspense in the story, and I did not know if Bobby was going to get a hit after he already had two strikes. Another reason I liked the story was because of the characters Willie and Bobby. Wille was a very helpful friend who worked with Bobby to help him become a good baseball player. I liked watching Bobby mature throughout the story after he became upset that he was bad at baseball, he became a hard worker and got better at his hitting. The main idea of this story is hard work pays off. Bobby never thought he was going to be able to hit the ball, but after he spent extra time practicing his skills, he finally got better and was got a hit. ( )

This is a good example of realistic fiction because it tells a story in a contemporary setting and relates to kids culturally. Robertito is a round character because he is well developed and changes during the story. ( )

Ok, not the greatest story ever, but a really good book to get a reluctant (reader) 7-year-old baseball fan to read. My son and I take turns reading every other page. And I like the message of this book -" ...try, try again" or "practice makes perfect" - something along those lines. ( )
