I learned so much just by reading this book. I had no idea female crickets cannot make sound and they mate by hearing the sound of male crickets calling them. This book also goes through the life cycle of crickets. This book would be great to introduce in a science class. ( ) Chirp! Chirp! Chirp! That's the sound crickets make. You've probably heard them chirp on a summer evening. But did you know that they make their chirping sounds by rubbing their wings together, and that only male crickets can chirp? Inside this book you'll learn about crickets, and even how to tell the temperature by counting a cricket's chirps. This book gives a solid introduction into the life cycle of a cricket and basic information about crickets' body parts. Students will enjoy learning how and why a cricket chirps and where the ear on a cricket is located (behind the front knees!). The illustrations are high quality. There is also ideas for extensions (building a cricket model, jumping like a cricket) and how to keep a pet cricket in the back. This is a high quality book, and I would recommend it to any elementary science teacher. I think it would be better with real photographs and/or source notes. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
