I just finished reading this book. and think I could read a good book again. As the title says this book includes eight stories all taken place in UK. And these are all worth reading! For now, I'd like to introduce you to one story in this book.
Paolo was a young student who had visited UK for three week. He had had an English friend so he stayed with his family, The Fowlers. They went to the village of Casleton to watch birds and animals in the mountain for the last two weeks. Poalo didn't like that too much, and became more and more disgusting. One moring, he slept badly and woke up at around 5. There were thick mist all over the cottage though, he decited to go out to the hill called Shivering Mountain by himself. People had said a couple died in snow long time ago and he had been told that the couple were still calling out on the mountain. Anyway, He climbed up the hill and almost reached the top. Then he heard the voice. He thought someone must have fallen. So he replied and walked towards the voice. Poalo stepped fowards and had one feet over the edge when he was grabbed from behind and thrown down on to the path. His friend Nick stood there saying "one second later... just one second later and..." Soon, Poalo noticed there was nothing but a vertical drop on the way he would have taken. Then, mist began to clear and he could see the sun rise above the hills away in the east and purple in the early morning light. When he tried to speak, they saw a large bird fly over their heads. For the first time he understood why his friend Nick and his family loved coming to these strange and beautiful hills. ( )

This book has a few short stories which are witty and cynical, that not only make us enjoy but also let us know the different ways of seeing things. ( )
