I like the way this book shows how much the town gets together to get the boat unloaded and loaded. Through the pictures, the people are scrambling around. The town is sleepy and silent, until the steamboat comes. When the steamboat arrives, they all help out. After the steamboat leaves, the town goes back to silence. ( ) Ste-e-e-e-eamboat a -comin' takes us back in time and gives us a glimpse of what it was like in the 1800s when steamboats were the main means of mass transportation. People rush to see what will be coming off the ship and everyone who is traveling for a specific reason. About every 3 pages the text yells, " Ste-e-e-e-eamboat a comin'!! Kids will be delighted to scream that along with the towns folks. The author offered tons of pages filed with rhythm and pictures to keep you wanting more! The pictures are good for students so they can see what the 1800s looked like and can take them back in time!! A perfectly illustrated story, this talks about what I would assume to be the 1800's along the Mississippi River, and a steamboat arriving at a small town with supplies. Some of the men in the town will be leaving on the boat, as told through the pictures. It is told in semi poetry form, with the lines broken across different pages. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
