One late wine- and gossip-fueled night, four friends on a lark create a fateful test of friendship — one that challenges the very principles and boundaries of their alliance. To pass it means to never, at any cost, betray one another. Twenty years later, they must face that ultimate test.

We meet them at the dawn of their camaraderie in the 1980s and already each woman is distinguished from the other: Tamsin, the compassionate mother hen; Reagan, the brazen and clever overachiever; Sarah, the seemingly perfect beauty; and Freddie, who despite being far from her U.S. home, finds strength in her friends. We forward to today, and as promised they are still firm friends… that is until a crisis occurs and the principles that define their friendship test are challenged. Exquisitely rendered by Elizabeth Noble, The Friendship Test is a powerful testament to the depth and capacity of female relationships.

Read this last night but I must admit I was disappointed.
When you read the back you think this story is about 4 women.
Well that is not true. It is mainly about Freddy, for me the less interesting of the 4 women.
When I was nearly done with the book and I realised it would only be about her and not about the more interesting reagan, (still don't know what was up with her) I really felt the book let me down.

This book show the importance of friendship, and we see how the friendships develop and are maintained, supported and valued. ( )

I was expecting another non-thinking book (which is why I actually LIKE chick lit) but was surprised that this Yaya sisterhood-like book would go so deeply into problems of marriage and children. More reality than expected, but not at all bad. Got a little lost with the names, and the story seemed to revolve on one of the four girls (in fact, what happened in her life was quite definitive for the others) - but hey, ok, ok, whatever. Read this if you want a more sobering Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. ( )
