One of those things that I never studied formally, but always comes up. ( ) This is, overall, a good book. Robinson explains fairly abstruse material in a friendly and creative way. If you are looking for an explication of what spectroscopy *is* and what it does and what it means, this book will be a good guide. However, as with pretty much every one of the books in this series, I have to ask: why can't Springer afford to hire a decent copyeditor? The gaffes, typos, wildly inconsistent punctuation ... the fact that chapters are referred to by number even though they don't have numbers ... the fact that the index is a terrible joke ... gives me the impression that this was a book produced by people (the author very much aside) who Just Don't Care. Springer serves their authors very badly. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

This is the first non-technical book on spectroscopy written specifically for practical amateur astronomers. It includes all the science necessary for a qualitative understanding of stellar spectra, but avoids a mathematical treatment which would alienate many of its intended readers. Any amateur astronomer who carries out observational spectroscopy and who wants a non-technical account of the physical processes which determine the intensity and profile morphology of lines in stellar spectra will find this is the only book written specially for them. It is an ideal companion to existing books on observational amateur astronomical spectroscopy. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
