If you like role playing adventures to include lots of political and cultural role playing (and admittedly if you are role playing in Glorantha, you probably do) along with fighting, then you'll love this adventure. First this adventure assumes your party consists of members/friends of one of the three political groups involved in Dragon Pass (independent Orlanthi, EWF, or God Learners). You start the adventure by chasing a thief throughout the region of southern Dragon Pass. You discover the growing likelihood of the Orlanthi rebelling against the EWF, and ends with you participating in the conflict that arises. The story unfolds based on your political affiliation, and how the non-player characters interact with you depends upon first your political affiliation and then your actions (even strongly independent Orlanthi can be swayed somewhat by friendly and helpful EWF for example). Using a mechanic of victory points based on your actions, successes, and failures at each stage of the adventure, additional plot events unfold.

What this book could use is a bit more detail in describing the region and people. Each encounter is more like a summary that the GM needs to fill out. However, this isn't a major issue in this case. Would I trade a shorter overall storyline for more detail? No. Would I have paid more for a larger book to allow for more detail. Yes, but not too much more.

The physical design of the book is so, so. The layout is fine, but many of the maps and graphics are too dark. The binding suffers from the same low quality that I've seen with the other Mongoose Runequest books. The first page is warped in the middle along the binding, and is coming away from the binding at the bottom. Admittedly this one is better than some of the others in that after reading it, the pages are still attached (I had one book loose its first few pages after having owned it for only two days). ( )
