The stories reflect the writers mindset, adventures and pretty much how he lived his life on the fringes of society. The review for the most part is directed towards the series of books in itself. The Barnes and Nobles series of essential writers is hands down the most comprehensive collection of classic lit available. Massive, well made hard cover volumes that cover everyone from Twain to Lovecraft. If you can find the volumes on eBay or Amazon it is highly recommended. They do not cost much and are full of literary meat and potatoes. At present I have about 75 percent of the collection. Beautiful and unabridged books. ( ) aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Joseph Conrad is regarded as one of the twentieth century's most insightful writers on the human condition. His tales of characters compelled by circumstances to make difficult moral choices in a world seemingly bereft of a moral center are among the most provocative in modern literature.
Although Conrad set his stories in a wide variety of locales, ranging from the Pacific Ocean to the South Sea Islands and the Congo, their true terrain is an inner landscape comprised of his characters' hearts and minds. This volume collects all of the short stories Conrad completed in his lifetime, including "The Secret Sharer," "The Brute," "Youth: A Narrative," and "Heart of Darkness," his literary masterpiece and an acknowledged pillar of modern fiction.
