This is such a heartwarming story about family and adoption. A little bunny named Twitchy begins to question why his cow mom and horse dad don't hop like he does. This sparks a conversation about how they are not his real bunny parents, and the differences they share. Understandably upset and confused, Twitchy runs off. When he is eventually found, Twitchy has attempted to change his appearance to look more like his parents, Sedge and Milfoil. He says to them: "I can change. I promise I can change. I can be a cow or a horse. But please be my real mom and pop." They sweetly assure him no matter where he came from or what he is, they are his parents and love him just the same.
I think this book would be a lovely way to address the issue of adoption to children. It gently portrays the emotions adoptive children and their parents must feel. I also love that it hints at interracial/multicultural adopted families by using different animals. It shows that you don't have to be the same race or from the same culture to love and cherish someone.

One day, Twitchy, a little bunny, notices that his parents are different from him. His mom is a cow and dad is a horse. He feels very sad about not being their real child and tries to look like a cow and a horse. As his parents tell him that it does not matter how he looks and they love him for being a bunny, they are happy again.

I thought this book had really adorable illustrations and a really touching message. I like how the bunny right away focused on how his parents had twinkling eyes and kind smiles. This book may also be a good reminder for adoptive parents that they can have difficult conversations with their children about their adoption, and even though the children may be understandably upset at first they can get through it as a loving family.

Hij doet verwoede pogingen om zoveel mogelijk op een paard of een koe te lijken, totdat hij begrijpt dat zijn ouders van hem houden, juist omdat hij is wie hij is.
