This Is Our Earth by Laura Lee Benson is a great book to teach children about planet Earth. It teaches children to cherish the Earth and help take care of it. On each page you read, it will add a little education description on the bottom of why it's important to the Earth or interesting facts which is great for the children to learn. The illustrations in this story are very detailed and the reader can immediately tell what they're about to read. I'd recommend this book for 2nd and 3rd graders. I believe this book can be both an easy read and a hard read. If you add the additional facts, that would turn it into a harder read. For example, if you are an ELL you might set a goal to start off on the easy read and work towards the harder read. ( )

I think that it is a very good idea to teach children about their earth. Thats why I love this book, it talks about all of the different aspects that are here on earth. ( )

This is a wonderful informational book about planet Earth. I feel as though this would be a great book for a young child to read if they show interest in learning more about where they live. The illustrations in this book are very detailed, and I feel as though they represent real life places and things perfectly. I personally enjoyed reading at it and looking at the pictures, so I am sure any young child would too!

This book travels the earth by taking readers through glaciers, rain forests, mountains, etc. I love the book because it has two sets of text: one for beginner readers, and one for older, more advanced readers. For the same reason, I would include it in my future classroom library. I would also read it to grades PreK-4th in a lesson about the Earth or Earth Day. ( )
