I have to admit that this is one of my favorite Animal Ark books yet, and I actually didn't think I was going to like it at first. Maybe because I didn't know much about wombats. But it's awesome! Batty is a very sweet old wombat who needs a new home; His owner is moving and has to get rid of all her animals. All the other animals go to good homes, but no one wants to take on a "cranky" 13-year-old wombat. Mandy wants to try to teach Batty to live in the wild, but he is tame and used to having a very easy life. How can he learn to fend for himself in the wild? This was a wonderful book because it not only had a wonderful plot, but I learned a lot about wombats too. Mandy shows Batty how to dig a burrow, and learns that dingos are the wombat's main threat. (
