I think it’s me. I’m the problem. Romance and formulaic plotting no longer hold my interest. Heck, not much of anything holds my interest anymore, but the story has to be amazing to bring me back to the book after I’ve set it down. And this one just didn’t. I had to force myself to pick it up every time. When I finally finished it, I was relieved, even though there was nothing really wrong with the plot or the writing… it just bored me. ( )

Sold as an enfant to a demon by his father for wealth and power, the hero is slowly losing his soul and knows the end is near. He's gifted a half dead slave girl by his brother and is instantly in desperate lust with her. The story had a weird pacing where the characters spend the majority of the book just being in each other presence without anything else really going on before suddenly they are in love. It was a hard book to get into but once you got past a first few chapters it turned into a decent enough book. They defeated the demon far to easily but I loved the hero's absolute unwavering devotion to getting the heroine back after she's kidnapped by his demented father. ( )
