First, a “rescue” took longer than expected so she was late for her waitress job. Second, a cop from Biloxi came to the restaurant and wanted her to tell him the location of Melissa Cape, one of her “rescue” clients. When Detective Capistrano grabbed her arm and wouldn’t let her go she poured hot coffee in his lap. Her boss fired her! Then when she gets home she finds someone was in her house and ransacked her things and left a message on her computer screen “I’ve got your number. You FAKE!” She heads for her cousin’s wedding planning to hide away after. But that doesn’t stop the bad from continuing. A fun and humorous story with lots happening. Clues abound but I didn’t see the ending coming. I enjoyed this mystery, murder, and romance written by a good storyteller. A cute mystery story. I liked Roxann. Her cousin Angora was a little annoying. She seemed a little mentally unstable. Angora's mother was very unlikeable. It was hard to believe someone could be so mean to their daughter. It seemed to take a long time to get to the murder part of the murder mystery. Considering how much I love everything else I've read from Stephanie Bond, I was surprised at how much I didn't enjoy this one. The first half felt more chic-lit than comedy, romance or mystery. All the girlie road-trip memory-lane bonding with her cousin got old after a while. It took a Long time to get going, for there to be any mystery developments, and for the hero to get any page time. There were some times near the end when I did feel a draw to the hero, but mostly I didn't care for his character and didn't feel any chemistry between him and the heroine. In fact, while I liked her in her own right, I didn't think she brought anything to the romantic table and couldn't figure out why he would have kept pursuing her. There was also a lack of witty lines, which is something I expect from Bond. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Roxann Beadleman reluctantly agrees to accompany her jilted cousin, Angora Ryder, to a reunion at their alma mater in South Bend, Indiana. When they arrive, neither woman is prepared for the feelings they both still harbor over an old professor -- and he certainly remembers Roxann. Hot on their trail, Detective Joe Capistrano is desperately trying to protect Roxann from a deranged criminal who may also be following the two women.
