This is a ancient myth, set in Mexico, about how two gods started a fight that brought music to the world. There is a lot of dialogue between the characters and descriptions that tell the reader exactly how the characters a feeling. The illustrations really bring the story to life. They are patterned and colorful and reflect the story perfectly. ( ) This is a very interesting story which is a retelling of a mexican myth. This has to do with how music came to earth. It starts off with two gods, One was a sky god and the other was a wind god. The sky god told the wind god one day that the planet was to quiet, that no one sang, played music, or even made a single note, and that he wanted that to change. So he sent the wind god to the sun god, because he had musicians of all kinds and kept them all to himself. So what the wind god did was go to the sun god and in a short way scared all the musicians into coming with him. It is that once the musicians arrived everything changed as if the planet knew they had come. Plants started to grow, and the animals started to play along with the musicians. This Mexican pourquoi tale explains how music came into the world. In the beginning, only the sun god had music and musicians, and he wouldn't share. So, the sky god, Tezacatlipoca, sends the wind god, Quetzalcoatl, to bring the musicians to earth. The wind god is successful. The earth rejoiced and all were happy, learning and spreading music until the earth was covered. The story was simple and pleasant, explaining who music came to be on earth. The real draw to this book is the illustrations. They are beautiful, colorful, images inspired by Mexican mythology. The work well with the text, but can also stand alone as great pieces of art. A great read-aloud for ages four and up. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
