This book is anything but "wickedly funny"; perhaps "mostly annoying" or "slightly disturbing" would be more apt descriptions. Amanda Lamb seems alarmingly out of touch with what her daughters need from their mother. She spends most of these essays shamelessly telling us how she needs to do everything but mothering in order to be a better mother, such as always working, always rushing, throwing away her daughters home-made Christmas ornaments, taking her daughters out of diapers before they are toilet-trained, etc. Sorry, can't relate at all. ( ) It was wonderful to read an honest representation of motherhood. Lamb admits to all her flaws, many of which are also mine, and I imagine are also the "flaws" of many other working moms. I laughed and felt reassured at the same time. My favorite essays were those on traveling with kids, becoming the "anti-mom" and mommy brain. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Television reporter and parent Amanda Lamb connects with other mums by capturing funny little slices of the parenting experience in a raw, edgy retelling of personal anecdotes. She reveals both her resistance to being changed by motherhood in 'uncool' ways and her gratefulness that her kids do make her a better person. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
