In this easy book, Paul creates a whimsical story about shadows. It shows how shadows climb, spin, and swoop during the day. At night, they disappear and the children sleep. This is a sweet story, and I am not sure if I would tie it in with a lesson. As a classroom activity, we could go outside and try to create different movements and shapes with our shadows. What I really liked from this book were the illustrations. It reminded me of the type of books I read as a young child. The soft brushstrokes brings the characters to life in this book. It also sort of gave it a dream element to the story, especially towards the end, as the children are about to go to sleep. ( )
