There are some things people think but don't say.... "Political correctness is the classic Great Idea Gone Wrong. All it's done is shut us up. It hasn't changed anybody's mind. It hasn't changed our hearts. It's changed our faces. It's taken every opinion we have, it's taken every joke we have, and it's forced us to conceal it and hide it and bury it. It's made us superficial." "Terrorism isn't caused by poverty, poverty is caused by terrorism. Terror is a tool used by those seeking power to keep the masses in need of an answer." "Too many people blame everything on everybody else, and because they do, they will expect too little from themselves and too little from their children." Glenn Beck says all that, and more. As one of the most listened to nationally syndicated radio talk-show hosts and the driving force behind the Rallies for America, Glenn Beck entertains, inspires, and informs millions of listeners. In The Real America, Beck continues to tell it like it really is, cutting through the fog of modern-day pundits and pontificators who have made it their mission to undermine and underestimate the greatness of America, our strength as Americans, and the power of the American spirit. With his inimitable combination of self-effacing humor and heartfelt conviction, Glenn rails against many of the forces that keep us from our potential as a nation and as individuals -- and tells how to overcome them. His topics include: Family and community Politics Personal responsibility Race relations Religion Political correctness, the media, Hollywood, and celebrities Abortion and the deat penalty Alcohol and drugs Why I wave the flag Glenn Beck's compelling message in The Real America echoes the ideas he has delivered to thousands of people with his groundbreaking Rallies for America: Once we connect with our power individually, we can empower others -- and then we can be as great and as grand as we have always wanted to be as a person, as a people, and as a nation.… (plus d'informations)

Let me get this out of the way. Glenn Beck is a moron. I am conducting a small experiment.I am a Democrat and tend to read more progressive books. So I decided to read some conservative books to see what the other side of the fence looks like. If Glenn Beck is any indication, the other side looks pretty bad. First the writing is horrible. Glenn tries to be funny, but usually it is either a) a little jab at himself which feels like he is really trying to show he is a regular guy or b) it is a slam against someone he doesn't like. I understand Glenn doesn't agree with people he considers liberals, but he takes offense if anyone criticizes him or conservatives. His opinions on the problems we as a country face are unrealistic. Again I understand that I am reading a conservative book with conservative solutions, but even his are really far fetched. I appreciate Glenn's honesty about his past history, but here's my problem. What makes a divorced, former alcoholic coke head feel he has the right to lecture anybody about family values? Yes people make mistakes and that should not disqualify him from ever having another opinion, but I think that he forgets he lives in glass house. Glenn takes an entire chapter on bipartisan politics and just inserted random words and says blah blah blah a lot. Again bipartisan is a bad word when the people I like are in charge, but when they are not then Glenn can't say bipartisan fast enough. Conservatives will probably enjoy this book, which serves to enforce the myth that only a conservative cares about soldiers and this country, while Democrats are the devil and they eat puppies and whatever other garbage Glenn can come up with. If you are a progressive thinking about reading this book, don't bother. It's bad, trust me. ( )

I like Glenn Beck on the radio. His irrelevant style and sarcasm bode well with me. His book is ok. He does a good job explaining why he thinks the way he does. For me this makes the book a good read. Other people may not care. If so, this book isn't for you. ( )

This truly is the land of opportunity, because if I can write a book, have a major company publish it and people like you actually want to buy it, then anyone can.
