Eight women from eight very different backgrounds. Yet the struggles they each faced rang with eerie similarity. These courageous women from across the globe-Pakistan, India, Romania, Former Soviet Union, China, Vietnam, Nepal, Indonesia-shared similar experiences of hardship, subjugation, and persecution, all because of their faith in Christ. Yet all of these women have emerged from adversity as leaders and heroines. The eight modern-day pilgrims featured in Hearts of Fire are the hidden jewels in the church universal. They are worthy role models of faith and passion, and women of every age will gain new strength and hope for their own times of crisis and trial as they read these inspiring stories. Each story concludes with thoughtful self-reflection questions for the reader.… (plus d'informations)

had to read this book slowly.... each story was heart-wrenching.... not a "plow-through" kind of book

I WAS GIFTED THIS. It is written more like essays but the stories are very intense. ( )

This book was about 8 different women who had a part working with the underground church. It showed their faith and what it cost them. I was truly thankful for each one of the women and the part they had in telling the world about the death and resurrection of the Lord and the grace, love and forgiveness that comes with giving your all to what really matters. They had great courage and fierce opposition, and my heart was touched by their faithfulness to their God.

You will meet Tara, a daughter of a Pakistani Muslim who will be locked in her room as a prisoner without food and medication; all because she was found with a Bible in her room. Then there will be the young Vietnamese girl who will turn down her freedom in order to stay and evangelize the people in her Communist country. And then there is the terrible tragedy that will happen to the Australian missionary who goes to India, only to later have part of her family burned alive by village zealots. You will read about 8 ladies who all face terrible struggles, but who remained faithful to the message of Jesus Christ. It puts one to shame sometimes to see all they went through and how easy I have it here in the USA. Was a great eye opener to the persecuted church around the world. ( )

Absoutely loved this book! It really opened my eyes and helped me realize some of the things others are going threw in different parts of the world, things that myself and many others take for granted everyday. Definitely one of my favorite books! ( )
