This edition of the classic children's rhyme might best be enjoyed by adults due to the beautiful fabric applique employed by illustrator Salley Mavor but it is not necessarily well-suited to storytime and, with so many editions to choose from, might not be the best one to choose for children. ( ) Mary Had a Little Lamb is about a girl who had a lamb that followed her everywhere. One day the lamb followed her to school. Mary's teacher wasn't very happy about the lamb being in the classroom, so he kicked the lamb out. When Mary got out of school that day, the lamb was still waiting. Growing up my family always told me different stories. Mary Had a Little Lamb was one of my absolute favorite. I just loved the bond between the lamb and Mary. Since Mary Had a Little Lamb is a well known story, I can let each child share their version it with the class. Mary's pet lamb followed her to school, but the twist on this traditional book now is that the lamb is not allowed to stay. The teacher takes the lamb outside and leaves it there. The lamb waits patiently outside the window all day waiting for Mary to come out and play. I can relate to this book because it was an all time favorite nursery rhyme of mine growing up. My mom use to sing this song to me over and and over. I could imagine a lamb going to school with me and having so much fun playing on the play ground with it. For classroom purposes, the students can learn that their pets will be at home waiting for them when the they get home. The student can draw or paint their favorite animal and draw it next to their house. They can also make lambs out of cotton balls on construction paper showing that they learned what a lamb looks like. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
