Kleio, only twenty years old, marries a man out of spurge. One day he pops the question and they get married. She knows he is not the man she dreamt of but spending her future in Hawaii will make her friends jealous. Scared and uncertain of her new life, Kleio joins her Navy husband in the island of Hawaii. If only she knew what kind of life was awaiting her in that paradise. 🏝️
The author expertly described life of young married woman who was struggling with her marriage from the beginning. Even when I enjoyed nicely described scenery of Hawaii, I was exhausted by the life of the young couple trapped in their marriage. He was manipulative and arrogant, but I also had mixed feelings about Kleio herself. She was always unhappy, felt depressed, was looking for attention, and was cheating on her husband.
This novel covered the topics of depression, marriage struggles, and mental abuse. At the end it opened the door for self-discovery, strength, and finding solutions. Very good book for discussions and book clubs. (
