At one point I realized I was smiling, and it was because the chapter I was in was just so cute. Later on, I thought to myself, wait am I crying? And sure enough I was because the scene was touching. So it was pretty good book :-) ( ) audio teen fiction (8h38m) - hilarious, flawlessly narrated story of Chinese-Filipinx Chloe, headed to USC to start her future career in animation, but first she must survive the summer in Manila with her ridiculously embarrasing (but very sweet) family and their kaishao attempts to set her up with eligible boys to prevent her from leaving. After a minute or so of listening, it's hard not to instantly love this story. Coyiuto has provided plenty of humor as well as depth and complexity in her characters, and Becca Q. Co is so skilled at her narration, I wouldn't be surprised if she is regularly employed as a voice actor for high-quality animated films. Recommended by my librarian co-worker and probably everyone who reads it, this book was a true joy to listen to. the digital audiobook also comes with an additional downloadable glossary of Tagalog/Hokkien/Taglish terms, though the story is easily understood without.
An endearing story from a fresh voice of family, first love, and taking chances.
Seventeen-year-old Chinese-Filipina Chloe's father sets her up on a marathon of arranged dates in hopes of convincing her to stay close to their Manila home for college. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
