'Will make you smile, make you cry, fill you with joy and warm your heart.' NetGalley reviewer, 'I enjoyed it so much!... This summer's go-to for every book-worm.' Jane Linfoot, author of The Little Cornish Kitchen Everyone has a story. You just have to read between the lines... When Elodie applies for the job of librarian in peaceful Willow Grove, she's looking forward to a new start. As the daughter of a media empire, her every move has been watched for years, and she longs to work with the thing she loves most: books. It's a chance to make a real difference too, because she soon realises that there are other people in Willow Grove who might need a fresh start - like the homeless man everyone walks past without seeing, or the divorcée who can't seem to escape her former husband's misdeeds. Together with local journalist Finn, Elodie decides these people have stories that need sharing. What if instead of borrowing books readers could 'borrow' a person, and hear the life stories of those they've overlooked? But Elodie isn't quite sharing her whole story either. As the story of the library's new success grows, will her own secret be revealed? An uplifting story about fresh starts, new beginnings and the power of stories, from the bestselling author of Rosie's Travelling Tea Shop! Readers LOVE Elodie's Library of Second Chances! 'A feel-good book that I didn't want to end. Five stars!' NetGalley reviewer, 'Absolutely delightful... Captivating from start to finish.' NetGalley reviewer, 'Another day, another Rebecca Raisin gem to add to my favourites!... I ADORE Rebecca's books.' NetGalley reviewer, 'A charming, positively warm book... A perfect summer read.' NetGalley reviewer, 'Grab yourself a cup of tea, sit down and prepare to be transported to a world of reading bliss.' NetGalley reviewer, 'This book is a warm blanket and a cup of tea... I am so grateful I read it!' NetGalley reviewer, 'Rebecca Raisin does it again!... Just wonderful.' NetGalley reviewer, 'A favourite author of mine!... Having had big problems with Flora's Travelling Christmas Shop, I'm happy to have given this author a second chance as I really enjoyed this story of a woman stepping out of the role her family has forced upon her and doing what lights her up, changing the town she's a part of in the process. I loved seeing Human Books being used as a major plot point and I loved hearing the various stories of the people in the town. And Finn is just lovely. I really resonated with the theme of not judging people and truly getting to know them. ( )

When I first started this book, I wasn't sure that I would finish it. I made myself wait until I got to where she'd started to make changes at the library, and I'm really glad that I did! Once she got to the town and started meeting people the story was lovely and cozy and had a lot to say about the impact that libraries and books can have on people. ( )

Elodie is a member of the Astor family business, a prestigious media company. She decides to break away and takes up a job in a small town in a failing library. To bring the library back up to its full potential she needs to enrol more members and so she devises a plan called a ‘people lending library’.

This is an entertaining and easy read. The story flows along and the characters are vibrant and fun. I think my favourites are Alfie and Harry. Their stories pulled at my heartstrings. It just goes to show that you should never judge a book by its cover or evaluate someone unless you have walked a mile in their shoes. It’s a story about listening, believing in yourself, forgiveness and new beginnings. An uplifting and charming read with a smattering of romance which should warm the cockles of your heart! ( )
