The horrors of WWI, woven about with a love story, and the amazing German shepherd guide dogs. This one takes place in Germany, which is somewhat unique, in that most 20th Century English-language war stories are set in England or France. Graphic war descriptions in parts, several premarital relationships, and an unusual amount of a single woman spending time alone with a man for the time period. But, beautifully done, and wonderful. Highly recommend, not only to read, but to keep a place of honor on your bookshelf. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (  ) Desiree_Reads | May 2, 2022 | Most of this story takes place in the German Empire, and we are walking with Nurse/Trainer Anna Zeller, and fate puts her with severely injured and blinded gifted Max Benesch. This was a page turner, I was so involved in what was happening, and how it would all turn out, and the author does a great job of bring this read to a conclusion. You might want the tissues handy! In the end who really wins in war? I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Kensington, and was not required to give a positive review.
