Loren has always loved the fabled stone necklace her mother keeps hidden in her jewellery box. Steeped in lore and legend, it is said that it must be guarded from all who seek it. Unable to resist the lure of the beautiful stone, Loren accidentally invokes its magical properties, catapulting them to another realm.Soon everything is wrong. The Welsh valleys are flooded, the moon is fractured, and dragons-who should only live in storybooks-fill the skies. As Loren and her two siblings are drawn into a future that is barely recognisable, they team up with Orca, a cowardly lechrad, who helps them travel the enchanted land and protect the stone. They'll need to fight evil and right their wrongs if they ever hope to return home again-and the stone's peculiar magic might be their only chance.… (plus d'informations)

What an enjoyable fantasy novel about a girl and her siblings barely surviving a unrecognizable new world to themselves. (Finally found in my emails the copy to download)

I thought this book was okay. I enjoyed the premise of the story but I think it needed more world and character building. I know it is a series so perhaps the author is just using this first book as a stepping stone to more and the other books in the series will have more to them. ( )

I received a free PDF copy of this book in exchange for an HONEST review.

The description of the book was extremely interesting but I could not get into the story. Sorry to say, I DNF'd at about 40%. I found the writing "clunky" with too many descriptive phrases and words strung together. Many of the descriptive words used together have the same or very similar meanings (Ex: "frantic panic" - you only need one of these). This style of writing slows the pace of the story and takes readers out of the action. I couldn't think about the characters or story line at all as I stumbled through the wordy sentences.

As I said, this book did not work for me, but that is my OPINION. I applaud everyone who starts the author journey and ACTUALLY finishes it with a published work. Keep writing! ( )

Thank you for the advanced reader copy from Library Things Early Reviewers.
Loren and her siblings are accidentally pulled into a new land when she puts on a family heirloom necklace. This is a YA fantasy novel that has magic, mild violence, no swearing that I remember, and no romantic subplot. There are dragons and other fun creatures.
All in all- I finished. But it never made me want to sit down and read till it was done which is what I do with books I really enjoy. Frequently it felt a bit jumpy and I think the author could develop her ideas of that world more before trying to get the story in it since the location, culture and rules of magic didn't seem consistent. It isn't exactly a cliffhanger but definitly left a few threads upen for the next book and (minor spoiler)....................................................................................................................................................one character missing.
