It's official: Brynna Phillips is done with men. They only break your heart. But, just when she makes this declaration, her friend Jan convinces Brynna to join her on a camping vacation in Sonoma Wine Country. As they wind their way toward their destination, spanking-new mini camper in tow, Brynna recalls her teenage camp romance with a boy named Leroy. How can it have been nearly 30 years ago? All she remembers is that Leroy was a genuinely good guy and that his family owned a vineyard-in Sonoma. She doesn't even remember his last name. Jan insists they look for him, and the search begins. Beyond the slim chance they'd ever be able to find him are questions that have haunted Brynna for decades, including What is the point of digging up the past? and Can Leroy ever forgive me for losing touch? Bestselling author Melody Carlson invites you on a trip to rediscover the carefree days of youth and, just maybe, to get a second chance at love.… (plus d'informations)

This book was pretty good. I found myself getting impatient for how long it took Brynna to reveal herself to her long lost love. I liked that faith in God was woven throughout the entire book. I love Melody Carlson and will continue to read her books! ( )

Predictable. I pretty much knew how it would end based on reading the back cover.

Every time I saw the title the song "Looking for Love" would be stuck in my head.

Jan's and Mike's behavior both in pushing the search for Leroy and in the office manager position seemed a bit bullying. (though I did guess that the two of them wanted time alone together). It also bugged me that Jan, who invited Brynna on the trip, was willing to "abandon" her without a car at the winery. (Not that there were too many choices--I doubt Brynna would want Mike's motorcycle as her mode of transportation and Jan certainly couldn't pull her camper with the motorcycle. But still, you'd think there might be a rental car place somewhere so that at least the poor girl could go get groceries etc.!)

If it was real life, I'm not sure I'd give Leroy's and Brynna's relationship a good chance of surviving. Leroy seems to be stuck for words an awful lot--in ways that Brynna misinterprets. Brynna's tendency is to run away--though by the end, she may have begun to recognize that pattern in herself and be willing to work to change it.

I liked the take on the story of Ruth that Leroy's mother gives Brynna. At the same time, putting your heart out like that invites hurt--and real life isn't fiction. It does make me feel for guys (the traditional role is that they say they love you first and they do the asking of "will you marry me?"). But it's just as likely that the other person could say he/she doesn't feel the same way when you humble yourself and admit your love. ( )

Melody Carlson books make me smile and feel-good inside. This novel is no exception. The thing I most enjoy about her books is the fact that I always learn something new and/or go on a fun adventure. This story has both of those elements.

Readers are whisked off to Sonoma, California wine country, where meet Bryanna Phillips who has just agreed to go on a vacation with a friend. It’s outside of her comfort zone, but she’s determined to try something new. Oh, she secretly wishes she could catch up with a teenage boy named Leroy. He’s the boy that she had a crush one.

Readers meet Leroy and learn much about all his family does and has gone through to keep a vineyard – in Sonoma, going. He had a business to run and was not looking for love. This is a sweet story of love, forgiveness, and second chances.

I won this book as part of the Library Thing’s Early Review Program. I was under no obligation to write a favorable review and received no compensation for writing this review.

Looking for Leroy is a sweet and clean contemporary story with heartfelt characters and a plot that left me not wanting to put it down. This is a heartwarming second chance romance taking place in a beautiful vineyard setting, with an animated cast of secondary characters.

I truly enjoyed Looking for Leroy, as if I I was there, walking in the Sonoma Wine Country and viewing the beautiful scenery. This is my first time reading Melody Carlson and I will definitely look to read more books by her. Hopefully a sequel about Jan, the vice-principal and Motorcycle Mike will be coming in the future.

If you enjoy Christian contemporary romantic fiction, you will definitely want to read Looking for Leroy. ( )

I have enjoyed many books by Melody Carlson in the past so I was excited to read this one and I was not disappointed. Looking for Leroy is a sweet second chance romance that takes place in a beautiful vineyard in California. I really appreciated a contemporary romance with characters that were a bit more seasoned shall we say. The characters in this book were in their 40's and had some life experiences to bring into the story. Brynna is an elementary school teacher and ends up on a summer adventure in a camper with her assistant principal. While visiting wine country in California, she and her friend decide to look for Leroy, a boy she met at camp many many years ago whose family owned a vineyard. You'll have to read the book to see how their story ends.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this story. All opinions expressed are entirely my own. ( )
