This was a pretty good book with some unfortunate hiccups. I really enjoyed it but really wanted more. I've posted a full review on my blog.coffeecakebooks.blogspot.com/2018/01/review-6th-grade-supernatural-1.html?m=1 Cette critique a été rédigée pour LibraryThing Member Giveaways. I think this was a great book for any age. I really enjoy ghosts books and this one is one I could share with my niece. Sixth grade is hard enough without demons, and girls. But Zander Casey can handle this and his new friend Abigail. I enjoyed this story and the characters in it. I would love to read book 2. * I received this book from LibraryThing giveaway in exchange for an honest review* Cette critique a été rédigée pour LibraryThing Member Giveaways. Zander Casey Sees Dead People!Being different is the last thing any guy wants when he's getting ready to enter junior high. Zander Casey is different, and goes to significant lengths to protect his secret. But along comes Abigail Stone, who not only finds out his secret, but complicates his ghostly world more than he could have ever imagined. J.B. Cantwell does a great job of bringing the character Abigail to the front. Both as a strong and determined female, but also, eventually, a friend for Zander that he wasn't counting on. Loved it. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
Zander Casey is not afraid of ghosts. When you're a parallel, and your whole world is full of the undead, it takes a lot to send shivers down your spine. But when Abigail Stone arrives at Plainsbury Middle School, she brings with her an entire army of nasties, the type of ghost to send even the most experienced parallel running for the hills. Now, Zander must convince her to partner with him and his mad-scientist father to close the gateway to the underworld she has accidentally opened. If they can't protect Plainsbury from the coming invasion of nasties, everyone in town will learn their secret, and their once-protected neighbors will become the new targets of every evil ghoul this side of the Mississippi. But getting Abigail to trust him won't be easy. And it's only a matter of time before the biggest nasty of them all breaks through, blowing the gateway open for good. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

What I liked: the two main characters are fun, and the tension between them, which develops into friendship, is nice. The plotline is easy to follow.
What I didn’t like: the story itself has potential, but falls very flat. There is no real climax, and the big “threat,” which isn’t even introduced until well past the half-way mark of the book, just kind of ends abruptly. Aside from the two main characters, the others are all very one-dimensional.
It was a decent enough read, one that may be better for younger middle grade (8-9 years old) that can handle some scary scenes.
