The book is very interesting and has many insights into the two prophets, Elijah and Elisha. When readers first open the book, they will discover a treasure trove of maps that aid in understanding the times and events that the study focuses on. Each chapter breaks down passages in 1 and 2 Kings where Elijah, Elisha or both are ministering. The book has a total of 14 chapters with short sections explaining Scripture. At the end of each chapter, there are discussion questions that can be utilized for pastoral use, and personal or group study.
I recommend the book as an aid to studying 1 or 2 Kings, or to study these two prophets. There were various insights I gleaned when I used the book as a daily devotional. A couple of places in the book were hard for me to read due to poor sentence structure, repeated sentences, etc. I wouldn’t allow those to keep one from learning just be aware they are there and try not to let it interrupt your pursuit of God as you study.
There are other character studies done by this author such as one on Jacob, Nehemiah, and David to name a few. May these studies bless you as you seek to grow in understanding and wisdom!
