I read this because this one became highly recommended as a basketball romance. And I believe this is my first book from this author and it was a average read for me. I am not sure if I just wasn't in the mood or what for this one but I just couldn't seem to connect to this one. I loved how the hero was into basketball though and it showed some aspects of the sport but it didn't quite fulfill my expectations either. I wanted to really love it but it just didn't quite click for me. Or maybe I just expected more from this one considering how many people have enjoyed this author and hyped this book up. Or it could also be a combination of both factors. While this was a enjoyable relationship to delve into, it felt average and didn't quite wow me. I did enjoy the hero much more than the heroine. Nothing horrible and super focused on what I didn't care for, she just seemed very prickly. But still an likeable read that has some redeeming qualities that kept me with the story in the end. ( ) 3.5 stars Normally, I love this author. The premise of this book was great. Yet, it fell short for me which is too bad because it had the potential to be one of the best from this author. The parts that were good were great but the parts that weren't frustrated the heck out of me. My biggest problem was the time, it felt choppy, especially, once part two started. I wanted more time watching these characters rediscover what was special in the spark that Raelyn and Ben had. Even though this wasn't my favorite from this author, ill still look for me books in the future. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
We don't get a lot of NBA superstars coming through little ol' Pine Hill, Texas. That's why everyone is all in a tizzy over the fact that the USA men's Olympic basketball team will be training here of all places before this year's Summer Games. Rumors about the players have been spreading like wildfire, and there's one man in the middle of it all holding a match. Ben Castillo. NBA champion. Olympic gold medalist. Widely hailed " "King of the Court." The morning he walks into my dingy diner, I have enough sense to keep my head down and go right on wiping tables, pouring coffee, and serving up short stacks. A man who looks like that-superstar or not-has only ever meant trouble, and more trouble is the last thing I need. If anything, he seems drawn to my indifference. His steely gaze pierces me behind the counter. My knees nearly buckle under the weight of his attention. But while Mr. Pretty Boy is probably used to snagging city girls with a smile, this gal is country strong. I won't be some cliched convenience for him on his way through town. So look over your choices carefully, Benny-boy. We serve up sides of hash browns here, not heartbreak. Contains mature themes. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
