A fantasy world where people have kind of a HUD Game interface with their stats and a young man waits to get his class. He gets cheated but then the real adventure begins. This book has it all. Gods and litRPG and a sentient dungeon and even cultivation. Monsters and tricky riddles, level progression and friendship, banter and great wisdom. Waiting for the next book in this series. The setting and premise is good, and I like that the character isn't growing too quickly. But unfortunately it has a lot of telling, the action scenes read in a very disjointed fashion which is a bit painful to read, and a bunch of people appear to have been given idiot balls to hold onto when it comes to skill applications. Some minor continuity errors throughout the book too, like how Tremine swaps back and forth between a Void and a Chaos mage. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

A new LitRPG world has arrived! It's Ruwen's Ascension Day, and he finally dies for the first time. His newly revived body can learn Spells and Abilities for the Class given him by the Goddess Uru, and dying is no longer permanent. Ruwen's high intelligence makes becoming a Mage inevitable. With his new powers, he will locate his parents and clear their family name. But nothing goes as Ruwen imagined, and when a rival God tries to kill Ruwen shortly after his disastrous Ascension, his focus turns from his future to just surviving. His choices place him in the middle of an ancient war, and he must overcome the limitations of his unexpected Class to reach level five. Only then will he have the tools needed to survive. But dying now comes with a terrible penalty, and failing Uru might not only cost him his life and loved ones but his entire world. It turns out dying on your Ascension Day is the easy part. ***** Hey, LitRPG readers! Ruwen is finally about to ascend and become a mage like he's always dreamed. Then he'll be able to find his parents and discover the truth about what happened when they disappeared. But nothing goes to plan and Ruwen is left scrambling to fix things.
This was fantastic. I loved the world building within this one. The class system is intricate and well thought out. I ignored most of the math but I liked the description of the skills and loot and that. I was pretty grossed out by the
Poor Ruwen, he's so completely outclassed. I adored his absolutely hopelessness with fighting. (The chickens!) But that said, he's pivoting rather well. Or at least, trying really hard to pivot to his new class. I liked his attitude towards it all. Like he's disappointed but he's doing his best to be positive about it and recognise that it's not the end of the world. Plus I rated him for feeling bad about having previously looked down on others. He's not perfect but he's trying and I really liked that. His friendship with Sift was great. I loved the easy dynamic between them and the humour. I totally sympathised with Sift though - I can't whistle either and my husband loves to mock me for it. It sucks.
Classic quest fantasy with litrpg elements. 4.5 stars, rounded to 5 stars. ( )
