Definitely enough to keep me reading but nothing mind blowing. This has a lot of the hallmarks of a reverse harem book and while I'm intrigued, I hope this series starts to differentiate itself more. I think a lot of reverse harem series, this one include, have a lot of similar plot points with one thing that's supposed to set them apart. In this book, it's dance. I used to dance, jazz and contemporary mostly. I wasn't very good but I do understand dance vocabulary. There actually wasn't as much dance in this book as I was expecting. In some ways, that was good for me. I'm not great at visualizing while reading so when something with a lot of movement is being discussed, like a battle or a dance, I can get a little frustrated and bored. However, since the rest of this book is so similar to a lot of other RH books, I think more of a focus on the dance plot rather than the gang plot would have made this stand out more. A lot of the relationship part of this book took place in flashback chapters because our main characters knew each other as kids. I really don't like split timelines like this in romance because I feel like it breaks up the flow of the story and I usually enjoy one timeline more than the other. It wasn't done terribly here but I still didn't love it and I feel like it pushes authors to use very heavy foreshadowing and we definitely got that here. The relationship itself was fine but definitely still felt undeveloped by the end. Some of that is forgivable because this is the first book in a series and it makes sense to save things to reveal and develop in later books. However, at times it did feel like I was being given too little information in an effort to build some mystery and it meant that I didn't really care about any of the guys in this book because I didn't really learn anything about them in the present. We also only learn about characters that seem to be really important at the very end, even though Pen already knew that person. As I said, this was enough to keep me reading. I did have some fun reading this and I'm intrigued to see where this series goes. There's some interesting building blocks here and I'm interested to see where book two goes next. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

From the gutter to the stars... Dance is in my blood. It's what keeps me sane, out of trouble. It used to keep them out of trouble too.A group of boys I grew up with. Xeno, York, Zayn and Dax. We were a crew once and we ruled the clubs. Separate we were insanely good, together we were unbeatable. F*&ing on fire. I was their girl and they were my Breakers.Until they did something they promised they never would; break my heart. We were seventeen when they left me. You see, for kids like us, dance was all we had.Growing up in a rundown housing estate in London with no prospects can make you view the world differently. It can make you choose the wrong path. I chose dance, and they chose crime.Three years later I've won a scholarship to Stardom Academy. I try to forget my past. But how can I do that when the four boys who hurt me are back? And this time they're following in my footsteps and joining the academy too. **Freestyle is book one of this new gritty, contemporary reverse harem academy trilogy for 17+ readers and deals with adult themes and some subjects you may find upsetting. If you love dance, your men on the criminal side, alpha hot holes and the friends-to-enemies-to-lovers trope, this is for you. Contains foul language and sexual scenes and ends on a cliffhanger.** Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

I don't remember seeing any warnings about something like that but hey whatever floats their boat.
So far the story over all is believable, easy to follow, and so so sad.
I can actually believe that this is happening to somebody, or has happened. That's the difference between the fantasy RH books versus the urban RH books. Fantasy is just a fantasy. You can imagine so many different scenarios, but with an urban RH these are scenarios that could have possibly happened. These ones are enjoyable for a whole different reason.
I'm going to continue reading because I want to see what happens next. I can't honestly believe that her boys would do what Jeb is insinuating but we shall see. ( )
