But the young boy is paired with her in a class project. The two kids get to know each other and understand each other’s perspectives. The young boy develops a relationship with the girl and shows the importance of trying to see from another point of view So I think I am too literal. Yes this book is about how people are often different than they appear. That preconceptions can be wrong. All good messages and I love the backdrop of a school (because of course that is relatable to most children) But for me, I can't get beyond the fact that she was raised by wolves. Like what? It doesn't fit.... The red-headed, gap-toothed, wolfish new kid is off-putting, and at first, our narrator isn't sure about her. But when he's paired with her for a project and gets to know her and far family, he finds he's sure about Kiki after all. (And in a tremendous bit of poetic justice, Molly, who spread the rumor about the new kid having fleas, winds up with lice.) The gentle lessons about not making judgments about people based on appearance, and helping new kids feel included, are leavened with many humorous touches in the illustrations; the first spread shows Kiki crouching just inside the school doors, her wolfish shadow stretching long before her. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
