Made me cry.

An important book to not only let children know that their life matters, but to show them that although they may face hardships, they are going to get through it and that can make all the difference.

This shows the beauty of black people's courage throughout history and how even though it was tough they made it out. The art features prominent black people from the past that strived to make the world a better place when everything looked grim and like it wouldn't get better.

This book is encouraging and heartfelt and makes children, especially black children, understand that their actions and their lives matter no matter what. The heroes from the past are there to show them that every life matters because you never know what yours can bring to the table of history and to the brightening of the world.

It breaks my heart that this book needed to exist - but it's a good thing it does. ( )
