I thought this was a cute heartfelt book and I can relate because my grandparents live across the ocean At the beginning of this picture book for kids 4-8, a little Korean-American boy has just arrived in Korea with his mother to visit his grandfather. At first, it is hard for both of them. There is a language barrier, and his grandfather has so many different customs. After the boy kicks a ball into Grandpa’s orchid pots, ruining them, the boy is scared he is in big trouble. But Grandpa realizes the boy just needs attention, and proceeds to get to know him more. Together they go to the market and the beach and teach each other words. By the end, the boy can’t wait till next summer when he can come back. The author, who is also illustrator, uses colored pencils to create simple but charming scenes that show the evolution of the relationship between grandfather and grandson. Evaluation: The point comes across that when one makes an effort to get to know someone who seems very different, the rewards justify the effort. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

When a little boy visits his grandfather on the other side of the ocean, everything is unfamiliar and boring until time together proves that Grandpa can be a lot of fun. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
