Romance. Young Adult Fiction. Young Adult Literature. LGBTQIA+ (Fiction.) HTML:A hilarious and vulnerable coming-of-age story about the thrilling new experienceâ??and misstepsâ??of a girl's freshman year of college
Some students enter their freshman year of college knowing exactly what they want to do with their lives. Elliot McHugh is not one of those people. But picking a major is the last thing on Elliot's mind when she's too busy experiencing all that college has to offerâ??from dancing all night at off-campus parties, to testing her RA Rose's patience, to making new friends, to having the best sex one can have on a twin-sized dorm room bed. But she may not be ready for the fallout when reality hits. When the sex she's having isn't that great. When finals creep up and smack her right in the face. Or when her roommate's boyfriend turns out to be the biggest a-hole. * I got this book for review*
It was a really fun read. This is one of my first New adult books I read in so long. I really liked the structure of this book and loved the main character voice but also how she broke the fourth wall. I really realted to her character and also her college experience also going to liberal college experience. I really loved elliot character and found this book to be super fun rep of freshman year in college. I also thought it had a nice balance between harder topics like SA, DRINKING AND Sex and also lighter harder topics like class, romance and friendship. I also loved the bisexual rep!! It was a great read!! ( )

Thank you Abrams for sharing Fresh by Margot Wood with me!
This took me back, well we will just say a few years! It was fun remembering all the funny and some crazy times from college. The book is about Elliot starting her freshman year in college but instead of buckling down and picking a major she is too busy dancing, going to parties and driving her RA crazy. Elliot was a delightful character to follow! She’s funny, sarcastic, and sometimes a complete mess! It was fun to follow along as she finds herself! She makes some mistakes along the way but everyone does. I really enjoyed Elliot as the main character and the footnotes just added to it!
Overall, Fresh was a fun, and hilarious read and I enjoyed every minute! The character building here is wonderful! The book is realistic and because of this it makes it very easy to relate to not just Elliot but also the others that come along. Margot Wood doesn’t sugarcoat the heavy topics in this book. I found that to be refreshing! It was a fun coming of age read showing the trials of young adulthood that most of us go through. Happy reading everyone!

Just before starting this book I read "The Last Chance Library " and it's protagonist June couldn't be more different from Elliot. June was painfully shy, hid herself away and wouldn't try anything out of her routine. So when I started this book, Elliot was a refreshing change. Elliot is fearless and seems to try new things almost every minute of everyday.

But as things spiral onward into this book, I was wondering if I could be a friend of either June or Elliot which would I choose. It's a question I'm still pondering, warm and steady or wickedly funny and chaotic.

My biggest gripe with the book are the footnotes, at first I liked them but it makes reading a pain so after the novelty wore off I skipped them until the end of the chapter and read them then. ( )
