Beautiful, thoughtful collage. Multiracial children go on a wonder walk and see the nature around them in relationship to their own experiences. Combination of collage and pastels and paint give strong feeling of movement and complexity. ( )

Wonder Walkers, first of all, is illustrated with that mixed media art style that is my absolute favorite medium in picture books! I love how even within the uniqueness of this very physical style, each illustrator has their own approach and style that becomes obvious to their work. With the art in this book, I thought the natural elements included in the bits and pieces lent to the overall natural world of the book which the characters are exploring as well as the idea that you can look closer at the details of anything around you and ask questions of it, in a scientific manner, to explore.

I think this book brings up a great theme of open curiosity and observation without needing a close ended answer. In fact, the whole book is just the kids asking questions they think of based on what they see around them, and no answers are given. This of course, makes it a perfect opportunity to see if the reader has an answer or another question of their own. This book also lends well to activity since you could easily start up your own wonder walk and think what questions nature inspires in you. I will however say that there are very few words in the book and so without outside interaction it is a very short read. ( )

Questioning and being curious is apart of children's name. This could be great to use for a lesson. This book was cute but would question placing it on my library.

This book focuses on two kids that are siblings that wonder around the world and asks questions about the things that they see. This book has beautiful illustrations and demonstrates how kids can ask questions about every little thing they see. The kids explore the outside natural world in a carefree way. I would recommend this book for elementary kids who enjoy picture books and like to ask questions. ( )
