There are many reasons why I liked this book “World Historical Atlases: Exploration”. One of the reasons is this book was written about the adventures of early explorers setting out to explore the world. There is not a timeline to the book, but the book is extremely informative for students to do research on learning about the new land. “In the early eighteenth century, European maps of the Pacific remained incomplete and inaccurate.” This is an example of how the first journeys were described when finding new land around the world. The book engages the reader to feel they are part of the journey of looking for the new land and learning about history. The book begins from the c. 150 to 1911 with history and facts about different parts of the world. Even though I like this book, I feel it is hard to follow because it jumps from different parts in time depending on the location. The end is wonderful because there is a glossary with bold terms for children to learn and also the different years talked about within the book with the main happenings of that time period. An example of this would be “c. 1000 Vikings from Greenland visit the eastern coast of North America.” The big idea of this book is to learn about the history of how different places around the world became who they are today and how they were in the past.
